Bazar, peer-production, Wikinomics – are we observing the birth of a new model of production?
Date: Wednesday, 8th November, 2006
Theme: The development of open source software and then transferring the model onto internet projects (like Wikipedia) or culture (creative commons licence) was granted a few acknowledged descriptions – from the point of view of a new production model and economic mechanisms supporting it. The works of E. Raymond („The Cathedral and the Bazaar”,”The Magic Cauldron”,), prof. Benkler (“Coase's Penguin,or Linux and the Nature of the Firm” “The Wealth of Networks: How Social Production Transforms Markets and Freedom”) and the recent publication by D.Tapscott (“Wikinomics”) allow to think that there is a new model of production of high quality goods on the market which can be compared to the quality of goods produces according to a traditional model (Linux vs. Windows, Wikipedia vs. Britannica).
Participants or whom it’s for: The session is directed at young scientists/economists and people participating in creating peer-production model products and to everyone who wants to find out about the model.
